Yami no kuni no Alice (or Alice in Dark-land) is the second major single by the heavy metal oriented band D. Their last single Birth was decent enough.
Hmm, I think D pulled off a pretty contradict title for their main single Yami no kuni no Alice, since the song isn't that dark and twisted as somebody would imagine with such title. Though the verses do have a certain dark touch and remind on the excellent Graveless from their last album, the song still has this very bright chorus that will stick in your head, more than any other part of the song (more likely you'll only remember it).
The other A-side of this double single is Hamon, which begins with this very enchanting and beautiful acoustic guitar part, with shivering cymbals creating an almost ethreal feel, but at the same time bringing back flashbacks from Canon del Colca, except Canon's structure and chorus is way more better executed and less boring than Hamon. Then we come to Mad Tea Party which is an very unusual clash of Nightmare's the LAST SHOW with a blues like intro and metal guitars. Pompus, flashy and over-theatrical. Well some people like this style, but for me it's just a bit over the top, dispite the very stylish flair on certain parts.
Rosarium is just another fast tempo song D makes when they're on their way from the studio to their local coffee shop, or rather another variation of Barairo no hibi combined with Dearest you, strenghtened with more acoustics and a typical metal solo.
So unless you're a real D fan or just bored, I don't really see you bothering with this average piece of Visual metal-rock. I don't doubt D's ability to make good songs, but I am not pleased with them recycling over songs and songs just to fill the average single quota of one flashy A-side with 2 forgetabble B-sides.
