So yeah yesterday I had my presentation of my favorite band on English. I was really nervous and my hands were slightly trembling. I asked the class to have understanding for what I was going to present them, noting that I have to make them try to understand something in five minutes what took me three years.

So after presenting the band (and getting an applause because it was really clearly and pretty said) I asked them what kind of a song do they want me to play. Did they want a ballad, a furious song, a rock'n'roll one or something completely experimental. They all expressed that they want to hear something "regular" that the GazettE have.

I don't really know why but I wanted to play something from NIL, since that album is one of the best I've ever heard. So I looked at my sister and asked her "Filth or Shadow?" and she said "Shadow". I regret it later, but well can't change that. No matter how prepared I would be, I'd always have a complaint.

So I played SHADOW VI II I. It was really loud so I could hear all the imperfections in Ruki's 2006. singing (which got really better after they've released Filth in the Beauty single). I also noticed that my heartbeat was synchronized with Kai's drumming (which was really scary). I didn't look at the class, just down at my table, wishing to kick Ruki in the balls every time he opened his mouth. I've noticed that the class chattered surprised on the bridge where Aoi plays his acoustic guitar and Ruki sings like he is from some boyband.

After the song, they've said that it sounded all right and cool and the teacher said it reminded her on System of a Down (O_O?). And when looking at my paper the teacher asked the most common question: "Are they all men?.

I've said: "Yes"

Since the end of the school year is coming soon and I'm up to my throat with exams whose number is exact to the legally allowed number of exams per week, our English teacher has been so nice not to gives us an exam and to let us mostly relax on our English classes until the end.
So today we had to listen to this song which glimmering optimism almost made my ulcer pop and fill out the lyrics. Just as always when learning English through songs.
That was ok. Until the homework part...
Which is:

You have to pick your favorite song and play it and hold a five minute speech about the band and the song.

A homework most people would die for to have, right? Sure if you're an average teen listener stuck on MTV hits or the usual pop or rock classic artists (like well... everybody from my English class).

To say that my situation is slightly different would be understating. Especially when destiny has made that my so called favorite rock band comes from the land most people tend to generalize as Asians working vacation-less in high tech factories with their small eyes, big incisors, black hair and always bowing, invading every tourist spot in the world; that look hotter than most girls do (while not having boobs and having an extra something in between their legs) and whose songs would be to mild to describe as ultimate auditive chaos rock hybrid of various not rarely unmixable genres? And when most of the people (I know) find the term "Japanese rock" as funny and crazy by itself and I'm well in a school/land/*wider term* where is normal for teens like me to listen to the usual things you see on MTV?
My poor teacher. I'm sure she was unintentionally thinking that we all listen to English (hence English) bands and songs.
How am I going to hold a minimum five minute about my favorite band when my hands and voice shiver every time I have to show/talk about to somebody my favorite band and not to mention about holding a speech about them in front of the class trying to compress the understanding and tolerance for a such band in five minutes that I needed three years to get. If my heart won't jump out and throw itself out of the window I'll consider myself as a "strong character".

So if I do manage to pull the talk out it is still a problem which song to play and describe. I don't have a specific overall favorite song by them, most of their songs are my favorites. I was thinking about Taion, but then again Taion begins with Ruki's uncorrectable English and does sound a bit harsh for your average listener (and the song has a special meaning to me I'm not sure I want to share). Another one of my favorites is the legendary Filth in the Beauty which would make an almost perfect choice if it weren't for the obvious incestuous lyrics (damn your perverted mind Ruki). I have to find some other T.T....

So yeah...
In short...
I'm screwed.

So as you might already know the GazettE have finished their probably most longest tour ever, the 2007-2008. Standing live tour STACKED RUBBISH - PULSE WRIGGLING TO BLACK.
The tour started way back in July (15.7.2007.) and lasted to 20.4.2008. with a total of 71 performances divided unto 4 tour parts.

Part 1 (15.7-7.9.2007.) had live performances throughout various clubs, halls and live houses in Japan with a final performed on 7.9. in Nippon Budoukan. Anybody watching the NAMELESS LIBERTY SIX GUNS live DVD (from the Budoukan concert in 2006) will see that the guys have kept their promise and returned again to Nippon Budoukan as well as "making a tour in which they will go and play in every city or town, no matter how small it is". Looks like they'd even managed to do that, since they had so many performances.
In the interlude between tour 1 and 2 the guys managed to put a special 1.5 tour as well, going to Europe and performing in Finland, Germany, France and England. The concerts were a big success, some had to be moved to bigger venues, while others were sold within days. Man the months before 1.5 and the days this tour lasted were a real torture to me, knowing that my favorite band is performing at a distance that is no more than 500km away from me, on a tour I had a chance to go, but couldn't since my father's trip to India came in the same time when these guys had their tour.
I swear that I really hated them back then just because I love their music so much and that I'll have to wait again (after waiting a year) for them to come back to Europe. All I wanted was to see the persons whose music means the life to me. Just to say one day Thank you for everything to them would mean the world to me. Because I can't never make up for what they have done for me.
After coming back from Europe (which was also marked with their reversion to indies as I've heard, well no one knows for sure if they're major or indie) their tour went into stage 2 (6.-29.11.2007.) of their tour which was basically touring around Live Houses throughout Japan. The boys got rid of their BURIAL APPLICANT outfits (THANK YOU GOD) and had special outfits just for this tour. This tour marked the end of a very successful year for the GazettE starting with the release of the great single Hyena, boiled up with the announcement of their 3rd album which was a little disappointing (and as such the only remark on the GazettE this year), but they made up for that with a fabulous tour and the announcement of their single Guren.

The start of 2008. was marked with the boys collaboration with the jewelry label GEMCEREY and the release of their personally designed jewelry, which was followed with the release of their, probably the best, single ever Guren. The single was released on 13.2.2008. and managed to get to number 2 in the Oricon single charts. After the single release the guy's were ready to continue their PULSE WRIGGLING TO BACK tour with the Fan Club only tour part 3 (1.-10.3.2008.)
The tour went into it's last stage with the tour part 4 (11.3.-8.4.2008.) where the boys played in various halls in Japan and head forth for the Tour GRAND FINALE [REPEATED COUNTLESS ERROR]. Their tour final was performed in the big Oosakajou Hall (where the boys used screens for the first time, I'm not really a fan of screens during concerts (I think it rather makes a distance then a connection with the fans) so that didn't really pleased me). So the tour ended with a two day spectacle in the Yoyogi park (Gymnasium something) and judging by the live reports the final was truly great.

As predictable the band announced that the concert held yesterday in Yoyogi National Stadium will be released on a DVD the GazettE TOUR 2007-2008 STACKED RUBBISH GRAND FINALE [REPEATED COUNTLESS ERROR] IN 国立代々木競技場第一体育館 and the band will hold a Gazerock Festival [BURST INTO BLAZE] on 23.8.2008. on Fujikyuu (not quite sure about that) highlands. And of course the guys will release a new single this autumn (let's hope it will be Gazerock at it's best and craziest form).

So yeah, wishing them less than this would be egoistical (knowing that I'm not really fond of the band's ever growing popularity, but I can't keep them for myself can I?) so I wish them the best and more than that because they deserve more than the best. They have got my biggest gratitude.

Even if they really know to piss and annoy me sometimes, I still love them. I wish them a lot of success and many years of happy Gazerocking.

To the greatest rock band if not in the whole, than at least in my world.

I've opened a new blog . I actually wanted to do that a long time ago but I thought that having another blog would be a bit time consuming (Since I regularly write here, on Kamen and on Livejournal). But I still decided to open it and stop writing on Livejournal (I'll be checking the communities there only).

Having a blog ther proved to be very addicting. i just can't wait to post something! I post the most random things, from what I have been doing in the morning, what I have heard from music or my drawings. Basically anything worth posting a little entry. I write on Japanese there and I've noticed that my Japanese is gradually getting better. It's still miles away from perfect, but it is still quite understandable and I try my best to have a correct grammar.

Besides posting small entries I put a lot of colors, emojis, pictures and everything else. It does look like I'm on some LSD trip but it is really fun writing those cute and colorful entries on Japanese. Really fun XD. And it also helps me to follow the entries of my favorite bands easily. At this moment I am following the GazettE official blog, Kagrra,'s blog, alice nine.'s blog, Ayabie's Aoi and Yumehito's blogs as well. Really fun! Please check if you know a bit of Japanese.

Back to the Visual news/randomness.
D'espairsRay has got a new very stylish look! May I say BRILLIANT? *laugh* For those not getting the joke D'espairsRay have announced a new two-tracked single named BRILLIANT that is going to be released on 14.5.2008. I think their new style matches the theme of the single brilliantly *laugh*. They look a bit Visual and a bit casual, but all in all they're real eye-candy! I simply can't wait for the new single to be released because I'm really into D'espairsRay recently.
When speaking of new looks...
Apparently Ruki has got new makeup. Some scars over both eyes that are supposed to look really cool. I've only found this picture (not very visible, but still a nice picture). Nice style addition for the upcoming tour final next month. The TOUR 2007-2008 STACKED RUBBISH is momently in the PULSE WRIGGLING TO BLACK 04 part and is ending with a three day tour final GRAND FINALE [REPEATED COUNTLESS ERROR]

4/13　大阪城ホール
4/19・20　国立代々木競技場第一体育館
13.4.2008. Oosakajou Hall
19.-20.4.2008. National Yoyogi Gymnasium (first gymnasium)

Very ambitious if I may say so. The National Yoyogi Gymnasium can hold approximately 13,291 persons and Oosakajou Hall about 16,000 (!). Considering that all three dates would be sold out, the GazettE would preform their tour final in front of about 42,000 people! THAT is something! But as much as I love my favorite band and wish them luck/success/happiness I doubt that they are going to sell out all the concerts for the tour final (slightly overestimating ourselves?), but they'll still going to have a lot of visitors for their tour final. Either way it is going to be great. Or maybe they'll prove me wrong?
I hope that they are going to record the tour final of their most longest tour ever for a live DVD (which I'm going to buy and overly enjoy watching). 頑張って GazettE! 頑張って!

Asari over and out gone learning.

So yeah the first ones to uncover their make-up are Girugämesh!
So yeah, as much as I love Girugämesh I must admit that when I first saw them in their Visuals (not without the make up) that I said to myself Whoa! These guys are reaaaaaal ugly! Poor guys... If I am ever going to listen to them it definitely won't be because of the appearance. Yeah unfortunately Girugämesh is really one of the ugliest bands around (although charming in a way), but at least they look very much like themselves without the make-up even more than some other Visual kei artists.
Although they are a bit aesthetically challenged I must admit
that they really don't need the looks to compensate songwriting,
because they songs rock hard and they could easily go on stage with
messy hair and greasy faces and they still would rock hard!!! Don't be
sad guys, I find your unique appearance really charming ^______^.

Next are D'espairsRay!
D'espairsRay always had this great Visuals and they always looked really good, starting from their extreme dark Visuals from the start of their career up to nowadays with a bit watered down, but still very stylish Visuals. The guys look mostly like they do in real life nowadays because they don't use a lot of make up and are going for a more natural style.
So first of all let's take a peek at singer Hizumi and bassist Zero.
This was from their interview from like about two years ago on the German (or wait is arte Austrian?) television report. Hizumi looks really dorky in a way, but quite natural and I love his fluffy hair. It's really hard to get some Zero pictures where he is not wearing shades but he looks a bit mysterious and a bit feminine (just look at those charming lips). They look quite boring and normal don't they?
With makeup they look quite cool but also very close to their natural look. As I said D'espairsRay is going for a more natural look nowadays. But the difference can be seen.
But the guitarist's Karyu looks without the makeup really differs from his Visual look. He looks more tougher and older, and a lot different than with makeup.
The prettier they are with visuals the uglier they are without them. The definitive winner of the most ugliest Visual kei rocker (praise the Lord Girugämesh) without the makeup is, ironically, Uruha (麗, his name means actually lovely, beauty). Seeing any Japanese guy with that kind of face would scare the hell of me, but knowing it is Uruha makes it all even more confusing and entertaining. He looks like some evil Japanese rocker ready to kick some photographs ass. I'd start running if I was the person who took this.
What is the most shocking about this picture is that it shows everything Visual Uruha isn't: a rough, not handsome Japanese MAN. He looks soo manly it's almost scary and impossible to believe. The Beast behind the Beauty.

Uruha thank you for restoring my faith in the
miraculous power of makeup *grabs her makeup box*. Looking at all these pictures reminded me of this sexist joke I once heard (Don't feel offended gals).

God was creating the world. God created the man and said
rapturously: Oh you are so perfect!
Then god created the woman and said a bit less
rapturously: Listen, you will have to put makeup.

The moral of the joke: We (women) have to achieve perfection with makeup. So hypothetically speaking what if men, who are already perfect by themselves, would use our means of achieving visual perfection (or makeup)? Does that make them more than perfect according to the joke? A little bit of truth is in that joke actually.

So with makeup or without, pretty or ugly, we all love our favorite Visual kei rockers. As long as they make good music that makes our days exciting the Visuals really don't matter. The true beauty comes from inside :).

The clip was taken from the J-drama 3年b組金八先生 (San nen B-gumi Kinpachi-sensei). Although the show did portrait some of the fangirls pretty accurate, but also it was an open attack at all fans even those who don't behave like that. It is simply prejudice towards fans and creation of stereotypes.
But most of all, it was offensive towards the people who actually love Visual kei and to who Visual kei represents much more than just music. I am not going to discuss here what Visual kei means for me (you know that already).

The airing of this episode was announced on the official the GazettE site, but without the knowledge about what the episode was about. After the episode was aired, no one mentioned it again on the web site, except Ruki on his fanclub blog. He apparently expressed his disappointment with the way they not just portraited the fans, but also the way people displayed Visual kei as a mass aimed shallow music trash.

"It’s impermissible for people to hurt other people who are chasing and
striving for the same dreams as us with words like that on their own
accord.
Anyone can say things.
Humans must not have the right to intrude, contaminate and criticize other people’s dreams."

(Translation taken from Batsu)
I must admit that I agree with Ruki because I have never been approval of judging people based on their music liking. It is like criticizing someone's personal choice, because music is always a matter of choice and people should not be judged because of that. But yet again such things happen.

I just wanted to show this as one of thousands examples of how Visual kei is treated. Those who think it is different in Japan are wrong, because in Japan Visual kei is also facing the same prejudice, the same taboo theme label just as in any other country.

People just tend to judge things they don't know.

Date released:

Track list

1. 紅蓮 (Guren) [PV] [Listen]
2. 傀儡絵 (Kugutsu e) [Listen]
3. 虚無の終わり 箱詰めの黙示 (Kyomu no owari Hakodzume no mokushi) [Listen]

A year has passed since the GazettE's last single HYENA. Six months since the release of their third album STACKED RUBBISH which was, hand on heart, stacked rubbish with a handful of shallow songs. Damn, even the GazettE themselves admit that the album wasn't their brightest achievement and not to mention that loads of fans were left disappointed or/and left with a bitter aftertaste. The GazettE were facing a stagnation in their non interrupted series of amazing achievements.

But I must say that my faith in the band and their talent was restored with the Guren single. Guren is a lyrical masterpiece, something like CALM ENVY (without the irritating parts) and Kagrra,'s Irodori no sanka combined into one beautiful and a bit reminiscent song with a constant flow, minimalistic and yet wonderful instrumental parts supported by the beautiful strings in the background. A song to dive into, freed from any aggression but yet strong in emotions, without being too emotional or pathetic. As beautiful as a Japanese lyrical scenery, with some profound feelings which can only be expressed as 物の哀れ (mono no aware).

Kugutsu e may begin calm, with an intro almost identical to Chizuru, but after a few moments it grabs you by the neck with it's distorted guitars, fast beat and heavy bass. A fast, schizophrenic, adrenaline charged ride through the chaos. This song is even for GazettE terms very chaotic, combining elements from nearly every good 2006./07. released GazettE song. Although it doesn't bring anything new, the pure excitement and adrenaline in this song combined with already known elements make this song sound refreshing and dynamic without losing depth, raping STACKED RUBBISH's songs analy. Rocks hard and is extremely addicting.

Kyomu no owari Hakodzume no mokushi surprised me with verse riffs resembling those of RED...[em] (just a bit reduced) from Dir en grey. But that is not the only resemblance. I could easily imagine Kyo singing the dark, mysterious, haunting and a bit sarcastic Hydra-666-esque verses. But after the first verse the song erupts in a instrumentally vast and almost apocalyptic epic masterpiece, reminding mostly on a more intense version of Chizuru but with sarcastic bridges and a very intense chorus that prevents the song from becoming Chizuru. Kyomu no owari Hakodzume no mokushi is what Apocalypse would sound: angry, desperate, ironical at times, dark and overall filled with emotions.

I simply can't express how glad I am that the GazettE have finally made a single to be proud of and most important with depth. I am glad that this songs are the songs you could dive into and feel. And they get better with every listening. For me it is not important how the songs are, if they bring something new or not, but if they don't have a depth, If they can't awake any emotions, then they are not something I would be overall pleased with.

Guren has showed that the boys are capable of making interesting songs that manage to sound exciting, fresh and new, even with combined elements from their previous releases. Although returning to their post-NIL, pre-STACKED RUBBISH state, this returning is not a stagnation, it is a development to more mature sound with more and more improving instrumental and yet still preserving the undeniable energy and chaos the GazettE are so known of.

What NIL is compared to other GazettE albums, Guren is to singles. A masterpiece that stands out with it's quality even with all the flaws and virtues. This single is not just an obligatory to GazettE fans, but also to anybody who wants to hear some quality Visual kei stuff (and not the usual trash). A masterpiece worth your listening (and money).

And I couldn't imagine a better present for the upcoming Valentines day and my birthday. 心からありがとうガゼット様。愛してる。

The PV features a little girl dressed up in a red dress. For all those who don't know Guren actually means crimson lotus on Japanese. This girl is like a symbol of this Guren.

Now at this spot I thought that this PV would actually be more than ideal for the song Filth in the Beauty. Everybody knows the pretty obvious allusions on Guren, white jam etc... in the incest themed song Filth in the Beauty. So it might just be me, but the allusions in this PV are also pretty obvious.
But not just the set and the guys are fascinating. The camera and PV direction is simply stunning and captures the mood of the song perfectly. The complex focus, focusing only on the details while everything is being lost in a soft blur, is one of the best I have ever seen in a PV. Just look at the wound like markings on Ruki's neck and the beautiful (Gemcerey, they have to promote their jewelry) details on the rings. Ruki, of course, couldn't resist not to put some really hot fanservice in the PV. Overall this is one of the best PV's of the GazettE ever. For me, only Taion is better but that is also due to the amazing quality of the song. But Guren is not so much behind. The guys have even mentioned that Guren will be something like Taion and Chizuru. The song does have the emotions from Chizuru, although the approach is a bit different, but the PV has got the atmosphere and spirit of Taion, what I'm glad of.

Guren is a great song with feelings, not that it is emotional or something, but that it awakes felling inside the listener. It is one of the songs you hear and drown in because it says so much more than it seems. It is a song with depth and I am glad GazettE managed to do such a song. My faith for them has been restored after it was shaken by the mere shallowness of the STACKED RUBBISH's songs.

Rare are such PV's that capture the spirit of the song so well as Guren. This PV is a must see not only because of the PV itself, but also because of the beautiful, almost transcendental song. Guren has already proven it's quality as a song and I hope that the remaining two songs from the Auditory Impression of the single won't ruin that. To shorten the waiting or the single, enjoy this PV masterpiece.
