Hey I've actually asked myself a few days ago when will the guys from SCREW release something new and was fund surprised to see their new single Wailing Wall out of the blue like that.
Oh well, Wailing wall splits the single in 50:50, with one 50 being the average SCREW chaos and the other being actually something more attention catching.
Wailing wall and Dokoku no ato (being more of a ballad) are very typical SCREW tunes with crazed guitars a bit syncopated drumming and Byou's voice hailing from plain to interesting. None of the song really stings out (except the very interesting guitar riffs) and you can be easily distracted from listening. Not so remarkable I'm afraid (they've even managed to make the song title's similar, since Doukoku no ato means Wailing mark).
On the other hand you get ZEALOT a really psycho-hard-rock kind of a song with a lot of energy and crazyness. I'm sure such type of a song would light up every live performance even though the song isn't as balzing as it is probably live. Still very crazy and strainlees, slightly leaving a SIX UGLY Dir en grey taste. Not bad actually.
But the true highlight of this single is Akikaze which even more shows the guitar skills of the both guitarists. It's a pretty soothing song with one of the most beautiful (emphasize on beautiful) riffs I've have heard recently: light, slightly melancholic and reminiscent but in core beautiful. The song itself is a bit pale but it's pretty relaxing and calm. I like it mostly because of the wonderful riffs. Just as the autumn wind.
In a way this single is better than RAGING BLOOD even though it won't make SCREW your favorite band nor make you love them more than before. This band has this closed sound range in which it moves and it's a matter whether you're a fan or not if you like them. Still it does make a decent listen in the empty space of this month, before facing another wave of notable releases, mostly because of ZEALOT and Akikaze.

Track list
1. RAGING BLOOD [Listen] [PV]
2. Dearest Wish [Listen]
3. 蛹(Sanagi) [Type R] [Listen]
4. スカーレット (Scarlet) [Type W] [Listen]
Coming from the praised big and mighty PS COMPANY SCREW has released a pretty unusual single. RAGING BLOOD is an average SCREW mosher with high speed driving guitars, fast brainless drumming and mostly screaming without the certain karma that makes a song worth to have the same titled single.
Dearest wish sounds like Ayabie on steroids: fast, with strong guitars and yet a light and optimistic melody, the kind of song you hear at the end of a good concert where the band thanks the fans and at the same time feels a bit sad that it all has ended. That kind of song.
Sanagi is the song with the most potential, opening with was and dramatic, stretched out riffs that reminiscent the ones of Dir en grey's legendary OBSCURE. The song has got a good atmosphere, tension, solid guitarwork but still aims at nothing and sounds like a song halfway-done. If they'd put just a tiny bit more effort in it the song would have smashed away all the recent releases.
The W version comes with Scarlet a song that is so retard that it actually sounds good at certain parts. It starts off being a standard SCREW raging mosher but then twists into a fun punk-like jumpy song in the refrain that will probably be set on a 10 minute loop at live preformances where people lose common sense anyway so.
I found their single VIRUS decent, but RAGING BLOOD is simply average and not up to the PS COMPANY's standards. Unless you're not a fan you won't find this single too amusing. But in lack of any furious tunes...
P.S. VOX I motherfucking hate your Java based posting system and instability which made me rewrite this post TWICE! Thank you soo much for making me almost break my laptop in the outburst of rage.
